In a festive atmosphere, with Mariachi music, dancers, and the cheerleaders of Bowie HS, the authorities of the city of El Paso inaugurated the Paseo de las Luces, located on Calle El Paseo and Sixth, in the Historic District Center.
“Welcome!”, it is the legend embodied in the new arch, symbol of friendship, and coexistence between the El Paso and Ciudad Juarez cities.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the mayors of El Paso, Dee Margo, and, Ciudad Juarez, Armando Cabada, the consuls Ricardo Hernández Lecanda, from Mexico, and John Tavenner, from the United States, among other authorities and special guests.
Mayor Armando Cabada announced that one of the projects to be carried out next year is to build a similar work in his city to give continuity to the walk on the other side of the river. It would have the same name and it would reach the 16 de Septiembre Avenue.
The work offers a new image to the downtown center and improved the safety of streets and pedestrians, incorporating public art, urban design, and neighborhood revitalization strategies
